Daleys Point Food Guide

Ettalong Restaurants Guide: Waterfront Dining, Clubs, Pubs And Markets

Many of the Ettalong restaurants visitors look for sit close together: The Box on the Water on the foreshore, the Galleria dining precinct on Ocean View Road, the Ettalong Diggers bistro and Italian Kitchen, and The Ettalong pub. From Daleys Point they are about five minutes' drive. Most guests drive up from Sydney, the Hunter and Western Sydney for a food weekend, and our Brisbane Water fishing and paddling guide covers the day on the water. This guide sets out what is open on which night (checked 19 October 2026), the Saturday market, the clubs on the Bouddi side, and a two-night food weekend for a group.

Key Takeaway

Ettalong gives a Daleys Point stay a waterfront kiosk, a dining precinct established in 1979 with a six-screen cinema, a beachfront club, a pub with live music and a Saturday fresh food market, all about five minutes' drive away. Book the Saturday dinner ahead, keep an early-week night for the balcony barbecue, and check each venue's own hours before you go.

Before You Book A Table

Three checks save most problems on an Ettalong food weekend.

1 Match the night: The Box serves no dinner on Monday or Tuesday, and Hardys Bay Club's restaurant lists hours for Thursday to Sunday only.
2 Carry photo ID: NSW clubs ask visitors for photo ID showing a current address.
3 Allow for surcharges: The Box adds 5% on weekends and 15% on public holidays.

Saturday Is Market Day

Saturday is the big food morning of the week.

1 Fresh food market: Broken Bay Scout Hall, 1 Picnic Parade, listed 7.30am–12pm.
2 Galleria shops: 9am–4pm on Saturdays, Sundays and Monday public holidays.
3 Cook at home: Take the haul back to a full kitchen, a Thermomix and a balcony barbecue.

Ettalong Restaurants At A Glance: Where To Eat And When

Most of the places in this guide sit along two streets: The Esplanade, which follows the bay beach, and Ocean View Road, the main shopping street. The table gives the hours each venue published on its own website when we checked on 19 October 2026. Hours change with the seasons, so confirm with the venue before you go, especially on public holidays.

Getting From Daleys Point To Ettalong, Umina And Hardys Bay

Daleys Point sits on the Bouddi side of Brisbane Water, looking across the water towards Ettalong. On the map in the Carinya Coastal Escapes listing, Ettalong Beach is about a 5-minute drive, Ettalong Diggers about 5 minutes, Ettalong Wharf and the Palm Beach ferry about 5 minutes, Empire Bay Tavern about 6 minutes, and Hardys Bay and Umina Beach about 10 minutes each.

That short drive is what makes the area work for food: dinner in Ettalong and a nightcap back on the balcony fit easily into one evening. If nobody wants to drive, Empire Bay Tavern runs a courtesy bus on Fridays and Saturdays from 4pm, booked on 0405 578 788; ask if your pick-up address is on its route. On warm weekend evenings, allow time to park before your booking.

Under 5 minutes IGA Ettalong and Anderson's Marina, plus a few local takeaways the listing map puts 2–3 minutes away.
5 to 10 minutes The Ettalong foreshore, Ettalong Diggers, Empire Bay Tavern, Woolworths Umina and Deepwater Plaza in Woy Woy.
10 to 15 minutes Hardys Bay, Umina Beach, Pearl Beach and Patonga for a change of view.

The Box On The Water: Ettalong's Foreshore Kiosk And Dinner Spot

The Box on the Water sits on the Ettalong Beach Waterfront Reserve, on The Esplanade opposite the corner of Beach Street. The beach kiosk does takeaway every day from 7am to 4pm, which makes it the obvious first coffee of the day. The restaurant serves lunch daily from 11.45am to 3pm, and dinner Wednesday to Saturday 5.30–8pm and Sunday 5–7pm.

The evening sessions are worth knowing by name. Wednesday is Supper Club, Thursday is Locals' Night, and from Friday to Sunday there is a Sunset Sips and bar menu session in the late afternoon (3–5.30pm Friday and Saturday, 3–5pm Sunday), with happy hour from 4pm to 5pm.

Two details catch visitors out. There is no dinner on Monday or Tuesday, and the venue adds a 5% surcharge on weekends and 15% on public holidays. Some older articles describe a weekend breakfast service; the current hours list the kiosk and lunch but no breakfast sitting. Bookings are online, by email or on 02 4339 3369. The owners of Carinya Coastal Escapes call The Box their favourite café.

How to use The Box Take kiosk coffees to the sand in the morning, come back for the Friday or Saturday sunset session, and use Wednesday Supper Club or Thursday Locals' Night for a midweek dinner.

Galleria Ettalong Beach: What Happened To The Ettalong Markets

Many people still search for the "Ettalong Markets". The site at 189 Ocean View Road, on the corner of Schnapper Road, now trades as Galleria Ettalong Beach. It was established in 1979, and Love Central Coast describes it as "Also known fondly as Ettalong Markets". The Galleria website describes "A unique Dining Precinct with 11 Restaurants, 14 Cafes/Eateries and over 30 Boutique Shops", plus a 40-room motel and the six-screen Cinema Paradiso.

The shops open 9am–4pm on Saturdays, Sundays and Monday public holidays: a weekend browse under one roof. Some directory sites still list the old name with older details, so use the Galleria's own pages for hours.

At night the precinct becomes the main dining strip. The Galleria says its restaurants open Wednesday to Sunday from 5pm, with some open seven nights in summer. Its directory lists Indian Street, Sulo's Shish & Pide, Tutti by Chillis, Yusu Japanese Restaurant, La Fiamma Pizzeria, Beef & Barramundi Grill & Bar, Bar Toto & Trattoria and Oz Napoli Pizza & Pasta. Each sets its own hours. Cinema Paradiso operates seven days, which makes dinner and a film an easy plan when the weather turns.

Italian Night In Ettalong: La Fiamma, Napoli, Bar Toto And The Italian Kitchen

Italian food is the easiest dinner to please a mixed group of ten, and Ettalong has four realistic choices that suit different nights.

La Fiamma (85/189 Ocean View Road) describes "Authentic Italian Pizza, Crafted with Time & Tradition". It opens seven days: Monday to Thursday 5–8.30pm, Friday 5–9pm, Saturday 12–9pm and Sunday 12–8.30pm, which makes it a safe Monday answer. It takes online bookings and online orders.

Napoli Pizza Pasta & Bar (84/189 Ocean View Road) says it is located at Cinema Paradiso and was established in 2014. Its hours list 4.30–9pm Tuesday to Thursday and Sunday, and 4.30–10pm Friday and Saturday, with dine-in, takeaway, delivery and a kids' menu. The site is inconsistent about Mondays and weekend lunches, so call ahead for those.

Bar Toto (83/189 Ocean View Road) is the late option: Thursday 3–10pm, Friday and Saturday 3pm to midnight, and Sunday 3–9pm.

The Italian Kitchen inside Ettalong Diggers serves pizza, pasta, antipasti and gelato with ocean views. It is closed on Monday, opens 5–8.30pm Tuesday to Thursday, 12–3pm and 5–9.30pm Friday and Saturday, and 12–3pm only on Sunday.

Ettalong Diggers: Beachfront Bistro, Cafe And November Events

Ettalong Diggers, at 51–52 The Esplanade, is the reliable all-week option. The bistro serves lunch 12–3pm seven days, and dinner 5.30–8.30pm Sunday to Thursday and to 9pm on Friday and Saturday. It describes itself as "Family-friendly dining with options for all ages" and lists kids' meals. The club cafe serves breakfast 8.30–11am on weekdays and 8–11am on weekends, with a snack menu from 3pm to 5.30pm daily and coffee all day.

The club's website lists a Melbourne Cup Party on Tuesday 3 November 2026, a Big Band Spectacular on Saturday 7 November 2026 and Christmas Toy Raffles on Monday 16 November 2026, plus Trivia Tuesdays, Music Bingo on Wednesdays, a Fisho's Raffle on Friday nights and a Sunday Raffle. Check its What's On page for times and tickets. Some directory sites still list old outlet names for the club, so ring 02 4343 0111 if anything is unclear.

Visiting A NSW Club As A Holidaymaker: Photo ID, Sign-In And Kids

Clubs such as Ettalong Diggers and Hardys Bay Club work differently from pubs. Visitors do not need to be full members, but there is a short process at the door.

Liquor & Gaming NSW's page on club rules for visitors says "A visitor can enter a club that allows temporary membership" and that visitors "will be asked to present photo ID, like a driver licence that shows their current address." Clubs may limit the admission of temporary members through their own rules or policies.

For families, the same page says minors can enter in line with the club's rules but must stay with a responsible adult and leave when that adult leaves. Minors cannot be in a club or hotel bar area, apart from narrow exceptions such as passing through. In practice, families eat in the bistro or dining area.

Bring ID Every adult should carry a driver licence or other photo ID with a current address.
Sign in together Arrive as a group so the sign-in is quick and you are seated together.
Kids stay close Children stay with a responsible adult and out of bar areas.

The Ettalong Hotel: Pub Bistro, Beer Garden And Live Music

The Ettalong, at 384 Ocean View Road, is the peninsula's classic pub stop. Its bistro serves lunch 12–2.30pm and dinner 5–9pm on weekdays, and runs straight through from 12pm to 9pm on Saturday and Sunday. That all-day weekend kitchen is handy after a late beach session, before most restaurants open for dinner.

The family-friendly bistro has a kids' playroom, and there is a sunny beer garden. The hotel lists live music every Friday and Saturday night and on Sunday afternoons, and trivia every Tuesday from 7pm. Dinner specials run Monday to Thursday from 5pm. The website also mentions $15 lunches but gives different days in two places, so call ahead if that matters. For a group that wants music without a ticketed event, Friday night here is the simplest option.

Margarita Daze At Umina Beach: Early Coffee And Shared Plates

Margarita Daze is at 345 Trafalgar Avenue, Umina Beach, the suburb next to Ettalong. It is the other venue the owners of Carinya Coastal Escapes recommend, for lunch or dinner, and they mention live jazz on weekends. The venue's website does not list music sessions, so ask when you book if the music matters.

The venue describes relaxed casual dining, a shared menu and considered cocktails. It lists 11.30am–3pm and 5–9pm Monday to Thursday, and 11.30am–10pm Friday and Saturday, with a pizza-only menu from 3pm to 5pm Friday to Sunday. Sunday closes at 9pm, but the Sunday opening time on the site looks like a typo, so confirm on 02 4343 1044. The beach kiosk opens at 6am every day, closing at 11.30am on weekdays and 2pm on weekends: the earliest coffee in this guide.

Hardys Bay Club And Empire Bay Tavern: The Bouddi-Side Locals

You do not have to cross to Ettalong for a meal. Two venues on the Daleys Point side suit a quieter night.

Hardys Bay Club, 14 Heath Road, Hardys Bay, is about 10 minutes' drive away. Love Central Coast describes it backing onto "a natural waterfall and Bouddi National Park". Its restaurant, Hardy's Hideaway, opens Thursday 5–8pm, Friday and Saturday 12–8.30pm, and Sunday 12–3pm. The bar opens Thursday 3–8pm, Friday and Saturday 12–10pm and Sunday 12–6pm. Love Central Coast still lists seven-day bar hours, but the club's own website shows a Thursday-to-Sunday week.

Empire Bay Tavern, 1 Poole Close, Empire Bay, is about 6 minutes away. It describes a bistro with monthly specials, live entertainment, trivia and karaoke, and a playground with an open grassed area for children. It does not publish kitchen hours online, so ring 02 4369 5840 first. Its courtesy bus runs Fridays and Saturdays from 4pm.

Hardys Bay for a slow Sunday lunch, Empire Bay for an easy family dinner with a playground: both keep the evening on the quiet side of the water.

Woy Woy Fishermen's Wharf: Seafood, Takeaway And Pelicans

Woy Woy Fishermen's Wharf, on The Boulevarde in Woy Woy, is a long-running seafood stop on Brisbane Water. Its website describes it as run by three generations of the Cregan-Clayton family, with a restaurant, a seafood market and a takeaway counter.

The restaurant lists lunch from 12pm to 3pm, but the site gives its days two ways (Thursday to Tuesday with Wednesdays closed in one place, seven days in another), mentions Friday and Saturday dinners without full hours, and lists the seafood market's days differently on different pages. Takeaway is listed 10.30am–3.30pm Monday to Thursday, to 7pm Friday and Saturday, and to 4pm Sunday. Call 02 4341 1171 before you drive over, especially midweek.

A post on the wharf's site says "We feed this rowdy bunch daily around 3pm", referring to the pelicans; the post is undated, so treat the time as a guide. The market counter is also the place to pick up fish for a barbecue back at the house.

Ettalong Fresh Food Market: Saturday Mornings At The Scout Hall

Love Central Coast and iCentralCoast list the Ettalong Fresh Food Market every Saturday from 7.30am to 12pm, undercover at the Broken Bay (Ettalong) Scout Hall, 1 Picnic Parade. Listings mention seasonal fruit and vegetables, bakery and pantry goods, free-range eggs, local meat, mushrooms and a coffee cart. One events site gives 7am–1pm, so check the market's Facebook or Instagram page the week you visit.

The Galleria shops open at 9am the same morning, so the two make an easy loop: produce first, then a browse, then coffee on the foreshore.

1 Bring bags and a cooler: Keep meat, fish and dairy cold for the drive back.
2 Go early: Arrive early for the widest choice.
3 Plan two meals: Buy for one barbecue and one breakfast spread, not the whole weekend.

Coffee And Breakfast Near Daleys Point

These are the earliest published breakfast and coffee options checked for this guide.

From 6am Margarita Daze beach kiosk, Umina Beach: 6–11.30am weekdays, 6am–2pm weekends.
From 7am The Box on the Water kiosk, Ettalong foreshore: takeaway 7am–4pm daily.
From 7.30am Saturday Ettalong Fresh Food Market, with a coffee cart among the stalls.
From 8am weekends Ettalong Diggers cafe: 8–11am weekends, 8.30–11am weekdays.

For many groups, breakfast is easiest at the house. Carinya Coastal Escapes has a De'Longhi PrimaDonna Elite coffee machine supplied with Campos beans, and IGA Ettalong is about 4 minutes away for milk, bread and eggs. Early risers can fetch kiosk coffees while the rest sleep in.

Lunch Across The Water: The Ferry From Ettalong To Palm Beach

The ferry from Ettalong Wharf turns lunch into a small outing. Palm Beach Ferries says the trip "takes 30 minutes from Palm Beach to Ettalong Beach and vice versa", and asks passengers to be on the wharf 10 minutes before departure. Timetables and fares are on the operator's site, diversion timetables apply in bad weather, and charges apply for bicycles, camping gear and freight.

A simple version: cross mid-morning, eat lunch in Palm Beach, then catch an early-afternoon boat back in time for the Sunset Sips session at The Box. If a dog is coming, read our dog-friendly Central Coast guide first, which covers the ferry with pets.

Eating Out With Kids, Dogs And A Group Of Ten In Spring

With children: The Ettalong has a kids' playroom in its bistro, Empire Bay Tavern has a playground and grassed area, Ettalong Diggers lists kids' meals, and Napoli has a kids' menu beside Cinema Paradiso.

With dogs: None of the venue websites checked for this guide set out a dog policy, so ask before you arrive. Carinya Coastal Escapes allows up to two small or medium dogs with prior approval, and its yard is not fully fenced, so plan who stays with the dog during a long dinner out.

As a group: Warm-weather weekends can fill up, and the Galleria says some restaurants open seven nights in summer. Book Friday and Saturday tables about a week ahead, ask for a shared menu, give a firm number, and keep Monday or Tuesday, when fewer kitchens open, for the balcony barbecue. Ettalong Diggers holds its Melbourne Cup Party on Tuesday 3 November 2026, so book early if you want lunch there that day.

Why Carinya Coastal Escapes Suits An Ettalong Food Weekend

Carinya Coastal Escapes sits high above Brisbane Water at Daleys Point, with Bouddi National Park bushland directly behind it and the Ettalong foreshore about five minutes' drive away. Dinner in Ettalong is close, but the house sits on the quieter side of the water.

The home sleeps 10 across four bedrooms plus a mezzanine sofa bed, with three bathrooms. The kitchen and dining room share the middle floor, with a 10-seat indoor dining table surrounded by windows and water views. The kitchen has an oven, cooktop, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, a Thermomix with cookbook and the De'Longhi coffee machine, plus salt, pepper, oil and basic starter supplies.

Outside, the private elevated balcony has a 4-burner BBQ and a 6-seat outdoor dining setting shaded by a 3m x 4m cantilever umbrella. The owners describe sunsets over Woy Woy Mountain, and a welcome bottle of wine on arrival takes care of the first evening's drink. See the full layout on the Carinya Coastal Escapes listing.

How A Group Of Ten Shares The Cooking And The Nights Out

Group food weekends work well when they mix one or two nights out with nights at the house. The three-level layout helps: Bedroom 4, with its own ensuite on the ground floor, is separated from Bedrooms 1, 2 and 3 upstairs, so early sleepers and late talkers do not clash.

Split the group into cooking teams. One team buys at the Saturday market and cooks lunch on the balcony barbecue; another handles a Thermomix risotto or curry for a cooler night; everyone eats out together on the booked night. After dinner in, the 65-inch smart TV upstairs, board games and books give the group somewhere to go, and air-conditioning across two levels keeps warm evenings comfortable.

A Two-Night Ettalong Food Weekend From Daleys Point

This plan uses the hours checked for this guide. Check-in at Carinya Coastal Escapes is from 3pm and check-out is by 10am.

Friday: Arrive, Shop And Eat Easy

Check in from 3pm and pick up breakfast basics at IGA Ettalong, about 4 minutes away. For dinner, the Ettalong Diggers bistro serves until 9pm on Fridays and The Ettalong has Friday live music. If the drive was long, open the welcome wine and keep it simple on the balcony.

Saturday Morning: Market And Foreshore

Be at the Ettalong Fresh Food Market soon after 7.30am, drop the produce at the house, then return for the Galleria shops (from 9am) and a kiosk coffee at The Box. Our Bouddi National Park walks guide has options if the group would rather walk than swim.

Saturday Afternoon: Balcony Lunch And Sunset Drinks

Cook the market haul on the barbecue for a long lunch, then head to The Box for Sunset Sips (3–5.30pm Saturday), with happy hour from 4pm to 5pm.

Saturday Evening: The Booked Dinner

Go on to the Galleria: La Fiamma until 9pm, Napoli until 10pm, or drinks at Bar Toto until midnight. If the children are flagging, a film at Cinema Paradiso is an easy finish.

Sunday: Check-Out And A Waterside Lunch

Make breakfast at the house and check out by 10am. Then choose Sunday lunch at Hardy's Hideaway in Hardys Bay (12–3pm) or Woy Woy Fishermen's Wharf (12–3pm), with the pelicans as the afternoon show.

Check live dates on the Carinya Coastal Escapes page, browse other stays at WTP Holiday Homes, and find more local ideas in our Daleys Point guides.
